21KM DETAILS

 21km - 8:30am start time - 16+ years
COURSE SUMMARY
Easy running on a mainly flat course, with some undulations to keep it interesting.  The course offers a mix of running terrains including 14% smooth hard packed dirt roads and trails, 86% sealed road surfaces.

Starting from outside Alison Park, entrants have a fast start down towards a turn point at the end of Korora Road and Owhanaka Bay.  After turning entrants then drop down onto the picturesque Oneroa Beach and head along Beach Parade. You will be well warmed up prior to your first short but steep rise which takes you up and over Oceanview Road into Blackpool.  From there entrants weave their way around the headland on The Esplanade which is a dirt road surface right alongside the water. Entrants get close to Surfdale prior to heading back along The Esplande, through Blackpool and up the second and final longer hill (Ridge Road). At the top of the hill youíll skirt around the outside of Alison Park and commence a second lap which includes a new loop around Tiri Road with stunning views on both sides of the Island. At the conclusion of your second lap youíll hear the crowd cheer you in through the back entrance of Alison Park onto the finish line stage.

RACE DAY INFO
The course includes a double lap of the 10km route with the addition of the Tiri Road loop on the second lap. What this means is the best bits on this side of the Island are completed twice, and you have a course that is a lot flatter then in past years!

The half marathon will still have 5 Aid stations, so you do not need to carry a hydration pack unless you want to.  3.2km, 7.2km, 10km, 14.2km & 18.3km.

Make sure you have your timing chip attached to your shoe.  Please ensure you have completed the back of your race number with your name, any medical conditions and a contact name and phone number (other than your own) in case of emergency.

Please pin your race number to the front of your T-shirt or running vest and make sure it is clearly visible. You must not use someone else’s number, nor let someone else use yours.

Walkers are welcome to enter in the 21km event.  Please ensure walkers start at the back behind the runners and keep to the left at all times.
